Packing in the camera bag …

February 03, 2011

I’m going to be shooting at Templecon for two, perhaps three days. I’ll be living out of the trunk of my car and a hotel room.

What the hell do I bring?

My camera bag, or bags (there will be several) will be packed with the following laundry list:

Bodies -
A gripped 7D
A backup, trusty, Rebel XTI

Lenses -
Tamron 28-75 f/2.8
Canon 70-400 f/4 L
Canon 18-55 kit lens (for when I *really* have to get that wide angle shot)
50mm f/1.8 prime
85mm f1.8 prim (my favorite lens)
Lensbaby 2.0 and aperture kit for the funky shots

Lights -
580exII
430exII
2 * Genesis 200 studio strobes

Backdrops -
in 10*20 size, I’ll have black, red, blue, metallic gray
in 10*10 size, white
in 5*10 size, a very steampunky print.

Grips -
This is the fun stuff – the heavy, bulky support systems. Three light stands. A backdrop support system. Tripod, monopod, minipod.

Misc -
The biggest room for error … all the little, misc stuff I’ll be screwed if I don’t bring. Batteries. More batteries. More batteries. Chargers and cables. Laptop and cables. Batteries. Lens cleaners. Triggers for the lights.

I suppose, given all of the above, I’d also better throw in a clean pair of undies, huh?
